#Snow bros 3 retropie series#
I highly recommend it both the original and the sequel.Įdit: SNESDrunk has a short video review of it if you want to see more: Įdit Edit: He mentions the series got other sequels on DS and Wii called Lost In Blue - but I found the Lost in Blue games to be a lot clunkier and a lot less charming than the original 2 GBC games. There's a bunch of different endings which gives it a ton of replay value.Ī sequel was released in Japan only, also on Gameboy Color, and theres a decent english translation out there. You hunt and fish and gather resources and try to survive day by day while using your resources to help you further explore the island. It has a lot of elements that modern survival games do, but it was doing it back in the 90's and was much more fun than modern survival games are to me. With some minor Harvest Moon type elements thrown in as well. A great open-ended, non-linear game, one of the few on the Game Boy.īasically you're shipwrecked on an island, and the whole game's a top down adventure game that plays rather similar to Links Awakening, but with a bunch of crafting, as well as hunger and thirst meters and such. If you search around for the hack, it's pretty easy to find.īest hidden gem on the Game Boy Color from Konami. There's a few other things that are changed and much of these changes can be toggled or reverted. This lets you use double jump abilities without being forced to transform when at 50+ rings. Super-forms can now only be activated by pressing one button to jump, then a second, different, jump button in the air.

With that change enabled, the Flying Battery has a new night time background and a new transition takes you straight from Mushroom Hill to Sandopolis.Ī bunch of other minor gameplay tweaks and fixes are also available in the hack, like the ability to command AI Tails to begin flying and pick up Sonic like what was done in the Sohack and in Sonic Mania.

Additionally, the hack has an option to re-order the zones in so that Flying Battery is between Carnival Night and Ice Cap, where it was likely originally intended to go. The transition from Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles sections of the game is also improved a lot with a new cutscene derived from the Sonic & Knuckles title screen and the restoration of the Sonic 3 final boss, Big Arm. They're typically a little harder, especially in Launch Base Zone. The Sonic 3 level layouts are also used whenever possible. Generally speaking, Sonic 3 Complete adds the content that attaching it to Sonic & Knuckles added, but prefers Sonic 3 audio and graphics wherever possible, as some of the audio and visuals Sonic & Knuckles changes look worse.
